Meadow Singers

The choir meets on Tuesday afternoons in school terms 2pm – 4pm in the Church Rooms, St Mary’s Church, Gosforth.

The Meadow Singers were started in Gosforth in 1993 with only five singers. They now number an average of 30 with all parts represented. Tony Kirkham is the regular accompanist.

During the winter the choir rehearses the music for the Cumbria Rural Choirs annual Spring Concert in Carlisle.

The summer is usually spent learning songs and madrigals that can be used for occasional concerts or for invitations to sing at local weddings and funerals.

A regular event for the choir is their Christmas Concert in the Public Hall in Gosforth in aid of Cancer Research UK. The 9th "Winter Salad" Concert took place in 2004 and included two soloists together with The Irt Brae Quartet. Refreshments for the Concerts are always provided by the Seascale and District Committee for Cancer Research UK.

The average cost for choir membership is £12 per term
